St Columba's College, Foxford Innovation Centre
St Columba's College's new STEAM building, the Foxford Innovation Centre, features a design that responds to the existing heritage buildings of their Essendon campus, including archways that announce a new entrance to the College.
Located on a busy corner at Buckley and Lorraine Streets, the rectangular built form is broken up with curved concrete panels, creating a pattern along the main road and interface to the residential neighbourhood.
The new building features specialist spaces designed around agile and dynamic breakout areas that offer IT connectivity, flexible furniture and connection to the outdoors, providing the opportunity to adapt their use to meet the curriculumβs evolving needs in art, food technology, science and technology. The buildingβs design, facilities, and technology infrastructure reflect best practices in STEAM education, providing a world-class education to students.
The project also includes a full size competition court for use by both the College and community.
